Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 September 2026
1. Who we are
Phasa ("we", "us", "the Service") is a social and study platform that helps university students find past papers, share notes, ask questions and connect with people at their university.
2. Using the Service
By creating an account or using Phasa, you agree to these Terms. You must be at least 13 years old and capable of entering into a binding contract. The Service is designed for tertiary students, but anyone may browse public content.
You are responsible for your account, keeping your password confidential, and for anything that happens under your account. Notify us immediately if you think your account has been compromised.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you post (past papers, notes, questions, discussions, profile information). By posting, you grant Phasa a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute your content so we can run the Service.
You promise that anything you upload is yours or that you have the right to share it, and that it is lawful. Do not upload material that is private or confidential without permission, infringes copyright, or contains personal information of other people without their consent.
4. Acceptable use
- Do not post harassing, threatening, hateful or unlawful content.
- Do not spam, phish, or share malware or malicious links.
- Do not attempt to access other users' accounts or our systems without permission.
- Do not scrape, copy or resell Phasa content in bulk without our consent.
- Do not use the Service for anything that breaches South African law.
5. Past papers and copyright
Phasa indexes and displays study resources collected from public institutional sources and content shared by students. You are responsible for making sure anything you upload may lawfully be shared. If you believe content on Phasa infringes your copyright, email us at legal@phasa.app with a description of the material and we will review and remove it promptly.
6. What we own
The Phasa name, logo, design and software are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy or reuse them without permission.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or delete accounts that break these Terms, and we may remove content that violates them. You can delete your account at any time by emailing us, and we will process the request.
8. No warranty and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that study resources are accurate, complete or current — always verify with your faculty. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Phasa is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts. This does not affect your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act or other applicable law.
